CanoëART
is a family business which aims at promoting the fine art of
wooden canoe building.
Our family's fascination to preserve the 1800's
heritage -- originally Native birchbark watercrafts designs
-- came from reading books on effective systems for building
woodstrip/epoxy canoes and kayaks.
With the recent improvement of this method,
the woodstrip canoe/kayak has gained
favourably with canoe enthousiasts, as it is more durable and
quite light. It also requires less maintenance. Its luxurious
wooden look makes it a pleasure to paddle.
It
truly is an "ART" to make a woodstrip/epoxy watercraft
without using any staples or nails. The combination of selected
hard woods for thwarts, decks and gunwales give these canoes
their noble look.
CanoëART
is a family passion started by our dad: Pierre-André
De Guire. You can say P.A. for Pierre-André and pronouce
De Guire like a well-known baseball player: McGuire.
We
are located at Grand Lac Nominingue, in Quebec, Canada. It is
a two-hour drive north of Montreal or 35 minutes north of Mount
Tremblant, a well-known ski resort. Three provincial parks (Papineau-Labelle,
Tremblant and Rouge Matawin), many rivers (La Rouge, la Diable,
Le Sourd, etc.) and hundreds of lakes surround our location.
The spirit of canoeing is truly alive in our region.
With a keen eye for fine details and a passion
for quality, we thrive in providing you with a watercraft which
exceeds your expectations. It will surely be a prized family
heirloom to be passed on to the next generation.
Our philosophy when building a cedar strip canoe
is ensuring that you will be proud to paddle your CanoëART
watercraft.
