Anatomy of a Canoe

The ideal canoe does not exist.
The challenge is to find one that will suit most of your needs,
most of the time.

1. Introduction

As we aim in providing you with a watercraft you will truly enjoy for years to come, take time in the selection of one which will best suit your activities.

To help you make a judicious purchase and discover what best suits you, we invite you to take a few moments to familiarize yourself with some basic notions.

First we will show you different perspectives of a canoe, naming the components and describing its elements of performance. A majority of people buy their canoes or kayaks without any prior knowledge. Please don't do that: contact us instead.

Ted Moore, in his "CanoeCraft" book, has stated "In the past 30 years, canoes have more often been designed to conform on the demands of materials rather that function with efficiency in the water taking a back seat to efficiency in the factory."
